A new adventure awaits

Bones heal, life continues. More adventures await. With those words, I ended my last post, the one that described the end of our Nepali adventure.

Indeed, the broken bones have healed, but the muscles and tendons around them are far more recalcitrant. I underwent two surgeries for my wrist and wore a cast for nearly ten weeks. As a result, I lost a lot of range of motion in my wrist. Since June, I’ve been working hard to regain that mobility. My surgeon and my physiotherapist have told me that I should give myself one year to see how much of it I’ll get back. Patience is not my strong suit, but I have high hopes for my rehabilitation. Meanwhile, Ken has fully recovered from his acute mountain sickness – so life continues.

And now, the adventure… Yes, a new adventure awaits. In a few weeks, Ken and I will be flying to Beijing, China, to join our second G Adventures tour called the Trans-Mongolian Express. After a few days in Beijing, we will board a train that will take us across the Asian continent, into Europe and all the way to St. Petersburg, Russia.

We’ll spend several days and nights on the train but there will also be many stops along the way. I look forward to Ulaan Baatar and Moscow. A homestay in a traditional Ger (yurt) camp on the Mongolian steppes should be interesting…

Come share this new adventure with Ken and me.
