Day one of our trip, we drove 800 km (500 miles). We live in south eastern Ontario and we’re going to the American southwest. It’s 2,850 km (1,775 miles) to Denver, the start of our Grand Circle.

The first five days of our trip are a dash diagonally across the content to reach Denver. For entertainment, we’re listening to audio books. We started with The Winter Vault by Anne Michaels. Her writing is nearly poetic, with lovely imagery in a historical context.

At one point, her protagonists are traveling. She expresses their passion for travel when she describes them unpacking their meagre belongings into a new adventure. She could be describing us.
